Greetings,
The Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of Jackson State University National Alumni Association, Inc. (JSUNAA) will be hosting its annual scholarship fundraiser, “The Black Winemakers’ Dinner” on July 14, 2019 benefiting students at Jackson State University. Jackson State University (JSU), located in Jackson, MS is an institution with a distinguished history and a very rich tradition. JSU is a diverse, technologically advanced four-year university steeped in history and committed to preparing its students to become global leaders. The DFW Chapter is a part of JSUNAA which is divided into six regions in the United States and consists of thirty- nine chapters. The DFW Chapter currently represents an alumni base of approximately 1,500 individuals in the DFW area. This event was started in 2013 to raise funds for DFW area students that were current student enrolled at JSU. Since its creation, this event and other activities, are examples of the many benevolent acts that helps us embrace the chapter’s motto, “Leading the Charge, Continuing Thee Legacy.”

The purpose of this event is to raise money in support of the DFW Chapter’s Scholarship Endowment established at JSU which was recently highlighted for obtaining its $25,000 endowment status. Our endowment fund provides scholarship support for students attending JSU from the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. In addition to our endowment, the DFW Chapter provides book awards and unmet need scholarships to students from other areas that may need assistance bridging a financial gap for school related fees. The DFW Chapter provides this added layer of support in hopes of encouraging JSU’s emerging and growing talent to consider relocating to the Dallas-Ft Worth area after graduation.

The Black Winemakers’ Dinner is the DFW Chapter’s signature event. We highlight African American-owned wineries from across the United States such as Vision Cellars, Dotson-Cervantes, and Maison Noir Winery. It is our hope to educate attendees on wine pairings, as well as, encourage them to support the wineries featured. The evening will consist of four wines and a Brazilian churrasco style meal, along with a silent auction, and of course, Tiger Pride.

On behalf of the JSUNAA Dallas-Ft. Worth Chapter, I invite you to join our efforts as we strive to continue the expansion of scholarship resources for DFW area students. The attached form highlights the opportunities available as we welcome your participation in the 2019 Black Winemakers’ Dinner. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at info@dfw-jsu.org or (601)506-7034. Again, thank you for the consideration of support for the JSUNAA Dallas-Ft. Worth Chapter as we are “Challenging Minds and Changing Lives” through scholarship dollars.
